4th/5th: Week of Aug 21

General News Your P&P folders come home on Mondays and are due back the following Monday. The students participated in a mini-lesson over how to fill out their supplemental logs. This is a great task to hand over to Gammas! They are developmentally ready to learn how to self-organize and it is such great practice for the middle school transition. 2nd/3rd: Week of Aug 21

Math – Ms. Andrea’s math crew reviewed some number sense concepts this week, focusing on odd and even numbers, finding patterns on the hundreds chart and filling in missing numbers on a number line. Ms. Kelly’s math group is working so hard and are becoming masters of place value with really BIG numbers- to the 100 thousands place- using base 10, expanded and word forms. Literacy – The kids participate in many engaging activities on a daily basis, besides just reading, during Reading Workshop. What’s Up with Alphas! Welcome to our NEWSLETTER! Alphas hit the ground running! We started getting to know each other through games and activities where we had to collaborate, come to consensus, and share resources. We had thoughtful conversations regarding building the best class ever by agreeing to: We ALSO started learning about our bodies, starting with our BRAINS! We simply can’t thank you all enough for the love and appreciation your showered upon us this week! We basked in the sweet gestures each and every day and feel entirely grateful for your support. Memorable Moments There is a morning dove who (bravely!) has chosen to build her nest right about our new Ga-Ga Ball pit. Her name is Cashew. 2nd/3rd: Week of May 8th

Math – Ms. Kelly’s math group had one busy week! They worked on their last new concept of the year, picture graphs! They discussed what a picture graph is, how they show data, why “keys” are important and then spent time analyzing and creating their very own! These Betas absolutely worked their little tails off on their data and graphing post assessments AND their end of year assessments which covered everything that they learned this year!
