Math: Da Sprouts jumped back into their expression unit. Monday they practiced finding the exponent form, expanded form, and standard form of numbers with a cut and paste matching activity. Tuesday they had a lesson over the distribution property and Wednesday they had a lesson over changing verbal descriptions into expression and equations. Math: Da Sprouts spent Monday and Tuesday reviewing for a check in they took on Wednesday. Evershrooms studied circumference and area on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday they were given 5 tasks to further explore circles and reinforce their understanding. Polar Bears had a lesson over the Pythagorean Theorem on Monday and practiced with a maze on Tuesday. Wednesday they learned how to determine if a triangle is a right triangle using the Pythagorean Theorem Converse. Da Sprouts, half the Evershrooms, and Polar Bears spent Thursday making binary Valentines. Mountain Lizards tackled factoring this week. First they factored out the

Math: Gamma shadows joined Da Sprouts this week so they skipped ahead to the beginning of the next unit for an easier transition. On Monday, Da Sprouts and 4 gammas learned the difference between expression and equations. On Tuesday, Da Sprouts and 4 new gammas studied exponents. Finally on Wednesday, Da Sprouts and the last 4 gammas completed a lesson on prime factorization. Evershrooms had a lesson over angle relationships and triangles on Monday. We discovered some students needed a reteach on solving equations. So, on Tuesday, some students worked on solving equations and some continued to practice angle relationships.

Math: This week Da Sprouts focused on application problems. They solved word problems in order to find “the part” and some to find “the percent”. Next week they will focus on finding “the whole”. Evershrooms completed a performance task that required students to order inventory for a lab and compare mixed solutions of disinfectant. This helped prepare them for the unit check in they took Wednesday. Polar Bears finished their unit on angles this week with a lesson on similar triangles. They then worked on mixed practice task cards to practice every principle they learned in this unit. Mountain Lizards

Math: During this short week Da Sprouts learned how to convert fractions to decimals to percents on Tuesday. Wednesday they learned how to use tape diagrams and proportions to solve percents. Thursday the complete task cards to review. Evershrooms focused on non-portional relationships this week. They learned how to represent them using verbal descriptions, equations, tables, and graphs. Polar Bears learned that the interior angles of a triangle add up to 180 degrees. They used that fact to find missing angle measures and to solve equations.
