We survived “Flumageddon” this week, with an average of 50% of our Epsilon students in attendance throughout the week. We appreciate those who stayed home to limit the spread of the illness, and we even managed to get a little learning done! Math: This week the 7th graders covered non-proportional relationships and studied for their check-in next week. The 8th graders worked on reviewing angle relationships with parallel and transversal lines. Towards the end of the week they completed an art project to help them identify angle relationships. The Algebra students completed an escape room to review the entire semester.

7th/8th: Week of Dec 1

Math: The 7th graders worked on finding the constant of proportionality this week. They can identify the constant of proportionality from verbal descriptions, tables, graphs, and equations. The 8th graders started their geometry unit with angle relationships. They had a lesson of 7 angle relationships formed by parallel lines cut and a transversal line on Monday. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday they used those relationships to find missing angles. The algebra students took their check-in over system of equations and inequalities on Monday, then began reviewing for their midterm. General News It’s a busy time around Delta Land! Monday we’ll head to the library for free-reading and hot cocoa/cider. Remind your Delta to bring a book that inspires some pleasure reading! Wednesday, we’ll head to the Bob Bullock Museum for a field trip to see the T. Rex exhibit (and watch a documentary on the IMAX screen!) The Epsilon class will join us, which will add to the fun! 7th/8th: Week of Nov 10

Math: The Meatballs had lessons for percent applications and percent change this week. That allowed them to work on a real-world application assignment that had them calculating percent change for airplane tickets, tax on in-flight purchases, and tips for the airport restaurant. On Thursday they reviewed for their check-in this coming Monday. The 8th grade class had a performance task on Monday comparing two bbq restaurants to use for a family reunion.
