7th/8th: Week of Sept 15

Math: 7th graders took their first check in this week and spent time making corrections on those check ins. They ended the week with a lesson over simplifying expressions and combining like terms. The 8th graders tackled equations this week. They solved one, two and multiple step equations that included combining like terms before isolating the variable. General News We’ll be sending home unfinished theme art projects next week for P&P (with no packet to complete other than an interest survey regarding our end-of-quarter continental culture project!) Reading/Writing Update This week we chose our topics and began researching to write five paragraph essays about medieval Korea. The topics selected vary widely and these will be very fun to research, write, and share! Across the Delta room we are learning about the government of the Goryeo dynasty, social hierarchy during this time, festivals, religion, and, of course, celadon pottery. 7th/8th: Week of Sept 8

Math: 7th Graders practiced operations with rational numbers all week. Monday they completed multiplication and division application problems. Tuesday they completed mazes to practice multiplication and division. Wednesday they completed a scavenger hunt for rational operations, and an error analysis where they had to find mistakes in pretend student’s work. Thursday they created their own rational operation problems given certain restraints. The 8th graders completed their unit study guide on Monday and Tuesday, so they could take their check on Wednesday. Thursday they began their linear equations unit with simplifying expressions. General News Here is the presentation from parent night if you were not able to attend! TLDR, your kids are phenomenal, they are rocking this transition, we are giving them time to grow into new skill sets, and we love them! Reading/Writing Update Five paragraph essays seem intimidating at first but we tackled them this week and got into a great flow!
