4th/5th: Week of Jan 15

General News Look for an email describing the students’ at-home theme project: collecting and describing 15 rocks over the course of the quarter. We held off on sending them home on Monday so we could model/practice with students before they started working at home. (Your child should be bringing home a supplemental resource packet to help with identification!) Next, if you are able to help with transportation on Tuesday, February 13th to InnerSpace Caverns in Georgetown, we’d love your help. Fill out this form if you are able to come along! Reading/Writing Update A weird week for ELA because of […]

4th/5th: Week of Jan 8

General News It was delightful to get the ol’ gang back together again following a nice, long break. We implemented a new routine to try: Tune-In and Tune-Out Tuesdays! During morning meeting, we’ll alternate between exploring an SEL power skill (Tune-IN! This week’s was “Be Kind to Your Mind!”) and musical performances (Tune-OUT! Kids can volunteer to play us a little diddy on Ms. Lorrie’s keyboard she purchased on impulse a month or so ago!) General News We are officially in “crunch time” to finish up projects a’plenty across all content areas. We are looking forward to putting it all together for POP in a few weeks! Reading/Writing Update We were busy bees in ELA this week with many projects on our to-do lists. We made covers for our biographies, finished up our family tree projects about the Birchbark house, and read chapter 7 and 8 of our books while completing comprehension questions and vocabulary for the book as we read. Ms. Ansley was doing reading check-ins all week so gammas were largely independent during

General News Across the board, Gammas gave wonderful effort in all content areas this week. Especially during theme, where the content is a bit “meatier,” the students displayed wonderful willingness to attempt tasks that required kids to push past the proverbial comfort zone. Sidenote: The Austin Animal Center is looking for handmade snowflakes to help decorate the dog rows for the holidays. We’re paying $1 per snowflake if your child wants to earn a little weekend Gamma cash! Snowflakes are due by December 5th. Reading/Writing Update This week Gammas had a chance to show off their reading and executive function

4th/5th: Week of Nov 13

General News Wow, this week flew by! Gammas showed incredible skill and maturity this week managing schedule changes, multiple projects, and our very first field trip! (It was fantastic!) We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! Reading/Writing Update This week we introduced a creative project illustrating the family tree and characteristics of the main characters in our book. We also read another chapter, learned more vocabulary words, and continued plugging away at typing our biography writing projects! We are looking forward to sharing our amazing, thoughtful, and well researched writing projects with you all at POP in December. The
