General News ELA Update This week in ELA was a blast! The enthusiasm they have shown for the new genre study has surprised and delighted their ELA teacher! Gamma’s were impressed with the reorganization of the classroom library and it piqued their interest anew for self-selecting books. General News It was so lovely to be back together again after fall break! We had a quick but action-packed week. Remember to look over science fair materials and due dates and add them to your calendars, as we are moving quickly through the scientific method. Testable questions (Part I of the packet) are due in class on Monday! Next Thursday, on Halloween, we’ll head to Shipe Park in costume (optional, of course.) ELA Update This was finally the week where we finished our novel! On Monday we had a discussion about the very exciting culmination of events in chapters 16 – 18. We also took some time to do in-class reading of the book together this week for the first time. Chapters 19 – 21 are so important for character development and we needed to know how things ended up for our characters to thoroughly and accurately analyze them. Reading these chapters aloud together in a voluntary popcorn reading was a blast because we got to feed off of each other’s reactions

ELA Update On Monday we went over our P&P and discussed the novel, as per usual. There are lots of predictions flying around about how things will end up for our characters! Even reluctant readers early on in the book are finding it irresistible to weigh in on the fate of our characters by this point in the story! General News We had a really great week–the Gammas were on-task and focused and it made for a really smooth week, even with Ms. Ansley out a few days (We hope she had a great time at the wedding!) We did have a community meeting with Ms. Shari as a guest visitor to talk about the importance of inclusive language at AHB.
