Math –
Ms. Andrea’s math group wrapped up measurement, reviewed telling time and took their unit test. Now we will begin geometry!
Ms. Kelly’s math group will be wrapping up their division unit next week and are squeezing in just a bit more practice. It has been division work, multi-step word problem and multiplication fluency practice extravaganza all week!
Literacy –
In reading, book clubs continue to run smoothly- one group just began a new one- Bunnicula! Lots of word work is always happening, including contractions and syllabication this week, using our low tech “computers” to make words. We are always finding ways to improve our fluency too. Using poems and reading them multiple times is a fun and easy way to practice fluency and intonation. Some kiddos got so into the rhythm of the poem they turned it into a song!
In writing we have been working on conclusions for our biographies. Many kids shared what they wrote so far, which helped others who are still creating. Next, we began working on a glossary!
Theme –
The kids are in full swing, creating carnival rides for our Peeps while we finish up the gears to our cardboard automata. Our room may not look awesome, but we are making and learning awesome things!
We are also at the very beginning stages of an art piece- coming soon!
Valentine’s Fun!
