Hello Delta Families,
Well our new blog is up and running full time and hope that everyone can join us!
Class Economy Auction: IF ANYONE HAS ANY ITEMS TO DONATE ASAP THEY WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! WE WILL TAKE ANY FUN AND EDUCATIONAL ITEMS FOR NEXT WEEK’S AUCTION. IF YOU COULD BRING THOSE BY MONDAY IT WOULD HELP US OUT A LOT!
Also, we have responded to all requests for the Parent Sign Up Sheet via Google.docs for upcoming conferences. Please check and if you are still having trouble, email myself or Ms. K directly and we will get you signed up.
Language Arts: We worked on comparing and contrasting different Ancient Civilizations. One of the most interesting activities was trying to communicate a daily activity in a different way. This included taking a simple activity such as brushing your teeth and trying to explain to the class how it is done without using traditional cues as “toothbrush”. We had some very interesting answers.
DUE MONDAY: The finalized Personal Narrative is due Monday that includes the Continual Objectives.

We enjoyed having 2 guest teachers this week! We are expecting one more next week and then hope to be able to make a decision!
In math this week:
Bridging/Fluent/Proficient – we worked on vocabulary (divisor, dividend, quotient, divisibility, factor, remainder, multiple) continued our exploration and mastery of division, introducing the division table, divisibility rules (up to 6, more next week), doing long, short & 10 5 2 1 division, and playing Math Pentathlon games as well as Cashflow for Kids.
Proficient/Connecting – we worked on vocabulary (sum, term, solution, infinite, independent variable, dependent variable, coefficient), practiced testing for True/False(ness) of various equivalent expressions, discovered how the formula for the area of a circle came to be, and were introduced to the Math Pentathlon game Fraction Pinball.
In the Stock Market Game this week:
We bought, sold and discussed trades. Each team named themselves so we now have 3 teams:
Creativity abounds and the discussions around stocks are getting more and more informed!
FINALLY, our Ancient Civilizations Theme Park is this Wed October 15th starting at 1145. If you are planning on bringing food, below is a list of who’s bringing what. Please respond in kind and we will add you to the list. We do have a microwave and fridge upstairs as well as the full kitchen downstairs. Come as early as you want. After lunch we will proceed with a few presentations. Should be a blast!
